WAYNE -- The search for town manager is nearing its end.
The committee charged with choosing the town's next manager has narrowed an 18-applicant field down to one finalist after interviews with three candidates.
Selectman Ray Giglio, the search committee's chairman, said committee members have delayed announcing their choice because they have had difficulty contacting the finalist's references during summer vacation season.
The finalist's name has not been released.
Former Town Manager Pam Grimshaw stepped down in July after approximately one year in the job. She accepted a position at an Augusta non-profit organization.
