A state professional organization for municipal managers is recognizing 13 town officials for achieving professional certification or becoming recertified.

Locally, Town Managers Richard Davis of Farmington, Steven Dyer of Oakland and Ruth Marden of Jay have committed at least 240 hours over three years to achieve recertification from the Maine Town and City Management Association. Kingfield's administrative assistant Greg Davis has achieved first time certification.

Certification covers work done in two areas. One is development of administrative/management skills and includes courses in such areas as legal, finance and personnel management and in such specialties as tax collection, economic development and road management.

The second area covers participation in professional or intergovernmental services and includes service as an officer of national, state and regional associations.

The officials will be recognized at the Northeast Management Institute next week.
