Wine shop hosts grand opening in Belgrade Lakes

By Amy Calder Morning Sentinel Staff Writer August 14, 2008 02:01 PM

BELGRADE LAKES $ A new wine shop featuring domestic and imported wines and beers, local organic cheese and handmade chocolate will host a grand opening this weekend.

Bacchus House of Wine at 75 Main St. will welcome visitors from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, according to owner Beth Hudson.

Refreshments and door prizes will be featured. Wine specialist Linda Ross will be on hand to talk about wines and answer questions; Ross' brother, sculptor Bill Wyman, will talk about his works which are displayed at the shop.

Hudson, of Readfield, grew up in Belgrade Village and is excited to open her first retail shop, she said. Her love of wine prompted her to start the business.

"Everyone's very happy to have this in the area," she said.

Her business is located in the former Once Upon A Tree shop. Anyone wanting more information may call Hudson at 495-3200.
