Portland Police Chief Tim Burton is set to complete his final day at work today, and the city plans to begin advertising his position this weekend.
City officials said today that applications for the chief position will be accepted through Oct. 3.
According to the city's schedule, a first round of finalists would be invited for a round of interviews with city leaders and residents in early November.
City Manager Joe Gray would announce a finalist in early January, and forward that recommendation to the City Council for a confirmation hearing later that month, according to a statement from Nicole Clegg, the city's spokeswoman.
Burton is leaving for a police chief job in Odessa, Texas.
