SOUTH CHINA -- Police and ambulance crews responded to a serious two-vehicle accident on Route 3 near Tobey's General Store this morning.

Maine State Police are investigating the accident. Trooper Robert Cejka said two elderly people were taken to the Lewiston hospital by LifeFlight, two others were taken by ambulance to Lewiston, and two more with non-life threatening injuries were taken to Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.

He said he could not release the names of those involved in the accident at this time.

Police continue to look for a cause, he said.
