AUGUSTA -- Several legislative committees will be back at the Statehouse this week to hold confirmation hearings on nominees for various councils and commissions.
Lawmakers must take their committee votes before Wednesday, when the full Senate will be in session to make final decisions on the nominees.
Here's a list of the public hearings at which votes will be taken:
On Monday, the Legal and Veterans Affairs Committee will consider Edward M. Youngblood of Bangor and Walter F. McKee of Hallowell for appointment to the Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices. The hearing will be held at noon in room 437 of the Statehouse.
Also Monday:
•The Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee will meet at 1 p.m. in room 206 of the Cross State Office Building for a hearing on Ronald E. Usher of Buxton and Richard C. Thurston of Scarborough. Both have been nominated to serve on the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Advisory Council.
•The Labor Committee will meet at 10 a.m. in room 220 of the Cross State Office Building to consider Barbara Raimondi of Auburn and Sandra S. Carraher of Cape Elizabeth for positions on the Maine Labor Relations Board.
Also, Patrick V. O'Malley of Portland is being considered for appointment as a member of the Maine Unemployment Insurance Commission.
Tuesday:
•The Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee will meet at 10 a.m. in room 206 of the Cross State Office Building to consider four nominees to the Board of Pesticides Control: Thomas Qualey of Sherman, Daniel J. Simonds of Rangeley, Charles T. Ravis of Winthrop and Deborah Aldridge of Jonesboro.
•The Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee will meet at 9 a.m. in room 436 of the Statehouse to consider seven nominees to the State Board of Corrections: Timothy J. King of Ellsworth, George M. Jabar II of Waterville, Scott L. Story of Monroe, Thomas M. Brown of Bangor, Irving B. Faunce of Wilton, Neale A. Duffett of Portland, and Kimm A. Collins of Falmouth.
•The Insurance and Financial Services Committee will meet at 10 a.m. in room 427 of the Statehouse to consider the nomination of Anne L. Head of Yarmouth for appointment as commissioner of the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation.
Also, the committee will consider four nominees to the Dirigo Health Board: Sarah B. Gagne-Holmes of Augusta, Marianne Ringel of Gardiner, Joseph Bruno of Raymond, and Judy C. Foss of Yarmouth.
