STANDISH - Police are investigating whether speed and alcohol were factors in a motorcycle crash that temporarily closed Manchester Road.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. Sunday when Gregory Emmons, 47, of Standish, missed a curve while traveling northbound and was thrown from his motorcycle.
Emmons, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland where he is being treated for a serious head injury, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department.
The department said in a statement this morning that it "appears speed and alcohol may have been a factor" in the crash.
