Route 119 reopened

By The Associated Press wire report August 18, 2008 11:51 AM

A portion of a central Maine roadway that was closed after heavy rain caused flooding during the weekend has been reopened, but a number of other roads remain closed.

State Route 119 was back open from Route 121 to Bradbury Hill Road. The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department said the roads that were closed due to washouts Saturday include Bradbury Hill Road, Route 124, Goodwin Road, Pottle Hill Road, Millet Road and Brighton Hill Road at the Auburn line.

The state Department of Transportation was repairing some washed-out culverts and roads Sunday as homeowners assessed their damage.

Officials say that despite the damage, no one was injured in the weekend storm.
