The Portland City Council will discuss redevelopment plans for the Maine State Pier at a meeting tonight.

The council is considering whether to approve a preliminary lease agreement, or term sheet, with the Olympia Cos. for a $100 million project that seeks to put a hotel, shops and an office-park complex on the pier and land nearby.

The council meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
