A barge that was being escorted by a tugboat out of Portland Harbor has struck the Casco Bay Bridge. No injuries are reported and the Coast Guard says there appears to be no major damage.
The accident took place around 7 a.m. Wednesday and the drawbridge linking Portland and South Portland is open to traffic. The southbound lane of the bridge had been closed for part of the morning by the Maine Department of Transportation, but Coast Guard Lt. Lisa Tinker says it's unclear whether that closure was related to the accident.
Tinker says an investigation is underway.

The Casco Bay Bridge was stuck in the open position for nearly an hour this morning, causing a traffic jam on the Portland side.
The bridge, stuck up only on the Portland to South Portland side, came back down just before 8:30 a.m., freeing up the clogged morning commute.
