Maine will be the host of the 32nd Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers in Bar Harbor on Sept. 15 and 16, according to an announcement from Gov. John Baldacci's office.
The Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers is an inter-regional, bi-national, trans-border organization established in 1973 in recognition of the special bond that exists between the six New England states and the five Eastern Canadian provinces.
Its members are the governors and the premiers of those provinces and states. The meetings are held alternately in New England and Eastern Canada. The last meeting was held in Brudenell, Prince Edward Island in 2007.
