Victim in Falmouth crash identified

By Dennis Hoey Portland Press Herald Staff Writer August 20, 2008 08:05 PM

Falmouth police have identified the Portland woman who was killed Wednesday morning when her car drifted across Blackstrap Road and struck a large tree.

Rose Mangino, 79, of 105 Carter St. in Portland, died in the crash, which took place around 9:15 a.m.

Officer Tim Libby, who investigated the accident, said there were no brake marks on the road, suggesting the cause of the crash could have been medically related.

Libby said tests will be conducted to see whether a medical condition contributed to the crash.

Mangino was driving south when her Chevrolet Malibu crossed the center line and the oncoming lane and struck a large tree at 239 Blackstrap Road, which is on a straight stretch of the highway.
