Josh Muscadin resigned today as North Yarmouth Academy's head boys' soccer coach and as the school's director of auxiliary programs.
Muscadin's resignation came a day after a Portland Press Herald investigation reported that his claims of playing for the 1984 Olympic men's soccer team were unsubstantiated.
NYA issued a statement this afternoon regarding Muscadin's resignation.
"While we agreed that accepting Josh's offer of resignation was in the best interest of our students and school community, we remain grateful to him for the many contributions he has made to North Yarmouth Academy over the past three years," NYA headmaster Peter Mertz wrote.
