Portland police today urged residents to lock doors and windows following a series of burglaries in Portland's West End.
A series of five residential burglaries and one business burglary started Saturday and continued through Monday. A person entered through unlocked rear doors and first floor windows, stealing jewelry, laptop computers, cameras and cash.
The burglaries tended to be in the late afternoon or early evening.
Police issued an e-mail alert today to residents about the burglaries, reminding people to be on the lookout for suspicious activity and to lock doors and windows.
