FAIRFIELD - Police are looking for a woman who late Sunday night allegedly tried to rob the Big Apple store on Middle Road.
Deputy Chief Steven Trahan said Monday that a woman believed to be about 40 years old demanded money from a female clerk, who was alone in the 24-hour store. The woman was between 5-foot-3 and 5-foot-5 and had teased, dirty-blonde hair, Trahan said.
The clerk, who the deputy chief would not name, reported the incident to police at 11:45 p.m. Officers Paul St. Amand and Casey Dugas responded within five minutes, Trahan said.
"She walked in leaned against the counter and told the clerk, 'you need to give me some of your money,'" Trahan said.
The woman said there was a man outside with a gun, and left when the clerk said she was going to lock the door, Trahan said.
