Indiana's "Hope" sculpture part of DNC

Borrowing a motif from his famous "LOVE" sculpture, Maine-based artist Robert Indiana is back in the national spotlight with a new sculpture, unveiled Monday at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

The new piece is dubbed "Hope," and looks much like its Pop art-era predecessor: Four letters, two to each line, with the "O" titled sideways.

Proceeds from the sale of products associated with the 6-by-6 stainless steel sculpture will benefit the Barack Obama campaign, according to the Web site for American Image Atelier in New York, an art production facility that is working with Indiana on the "Hope" project.

Two sculptors from Eliot helped complete the work on the sculpture. Lauren Holmgren and Josh Dow, who run Green Foundry, made the sculpture this summer.

Indiana could not be reached for comment on Monday.
