WINDSOR $ An Augusta man was taken by helicopter to a Lewiston hospital Sunday afternoon after crashing his motorcycle on Legion Park Road.
Raymond Gilbert, 44, was in critical condition Monday afternoon, according to a spokeswoman at Central Maine Medical Center. He was taken to the hospital by a LifeFlight of Maine helicopter after suffering head injuries, said Capt. Jon Perkins of the Kennebec County Sheriff's Department.
Gilbert was driving his motorcycle north on Legion Park Road when his motorcycle left the road for unknown reasons a little before 5 p.m., Perkins said. He was unsure if Gilbert was wearing a helmet.
The accident was not reconstructed because it was a single vehicle accident with only the driver involved, Perkins said. Neither speed nor substances appears to be a factor, Perkins said. No charges were filed.
