Coast Guard honors crew for fire response

By Giselle Goodman August 26, 2008 09:32 AM

A boat crew from Coast Guard Station in Boothbay Harbor was given high honors yesterday for their response to the July 11 fire at the Washburn and Doughty Shipyard in East Boothbay.

During the response, the crew evacuated two shipyard workers from the shipyard, helped relocate several vessels from nearby mooring fields and enforced a 500 yard safety zone to prevent onlookers from getting too close to the fire.
