The man charged with setting 11 cars on fire April 11 pleaded innocent in Cumberland County Superior Court today.
Thomas Cassidy was indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury on 21 counts of arson, because of buildings that were ignited by burning cars, in addition to the cars themselves. He also is charged with breaking into cars before he allegedly set them on fire.
Cassidy is free on bail pending his next court appearance, which has not been scheduled. Cassidy's bail is $90,000 in property, which family members posted with a house they own on Smokehouse Road in Harpswell.
Cassidy was arrested as police and firefighters spent a frightening morning responding to fire calls.
