CLINTON - Someone broke into the A.W. Chaffee trucking and logging yard and stole diesel fuel Tuesday night, Police Chief Charles Runnels said Wednesday.

Runnels said that someone broke the gate open and took fuel from the tank at the rear of the building on Hinckley Road, near Interstate 95. The thief got away with a small amount of diesel because the tank was nearly empty, the chief said.

A police officer had checked the property earlier Tuesday night and found everything in order, Runnels said.
