WATERVILLE $ Thursday's Downtown Waterville Farmers' Market on The Concourse will offer something new today.

The market, open 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., will feature free cooking demonstrations using a variety of foods from market vendors including sausage, potatoes, vegetables, goat cheese and yogurt.

Market patrons will learn how to create healthful meals and have a chance to sample the foods.

A portable wood-fired oven provided by Maine Wood Heat Co. of Norridgewock will be used to make pizza and vegetable ratatouille, according to organizers.

Several different types of potato salad and other treats will be featured.

The weekly market is sponsored by MaineGeneral Health and coordinated by the Waterville Main Street Program.
