A man allegedly spit at a sheriff's deputy and corrections officer after being arrested and charged with assaulting a man on Huff Road in Lyman yesterday.
Kalvin Kalesnick, 18, of Waterboro, now faces charges of assault and operating under the influence.
Kalesnick allegedly arrived at a Huff Road home drunk yesterday afternoon, looking for a resident there. When the homeowner took the keys to Kalesnick's car, he allegedly assaulted the man and ran into the woods, according to a press release from the York County Sheriff's Office.
When sheriff's deputies caught up to Kalesnick in the woods, he became hostile, police said. Kalesnick allegedly spit at a deputy while he was being taken to jail and then spit on a corrections officer when he arrived. The man also refused to take a breath test for suspected drunk driving, according to the statement from police.
Kalesnick is being held at the York County Jail in Alfred on $3,300 bail this morning.
