SOUTH PORTLAND -- The Maine Military Museum and Learning Center plans to hold its grand opening Saturday at 11 a.m.
The museum, located at 513 Broadway, was established by Lee Humiston, a South Portland native who is an Air Force veteran and collector of Vietnam War prisoner-of-war artifacts, writings and memorabilia.
The guest speaker at the opening will be Gov. John Baldacci, who will present awards to 18 former prisoners of war from World War II through Vietnam.
The museum hosted a campaign visit by Republican presidential candidate John McCain, a former POW, last month.
