FAIRFIELD - Old and young, business people and health-care professionals will attend a Tuesday night organizational meeting, designed to jump-start Fairfield's economy.
Josh Reny, the town's new planner for economic and community development, has tried his best to invite a diverse representation to the Fairfield Community Center meeting, which begins at 6.
Reny will introduce himself, invite input and then call for an election of officers to a community-development committee.
Reny said Friday it will be up to the committee to target specific needs for the Fairfield business community, both downtown and elsewhere.
But it is clear, Reny said, that the town needs to "reinvigorate." The economic-development committee hasn't met in nearly a year, and the comprehensive plan written in 1996 is in need of an update.
"I need to start contacting people and start soliciting people and start bringing people together," Reny said. "Right now there's just no organizational structure. I've had six weeks to assess the situation."
