HARPSWELL -- Three people suffered only minor injuries in a plane crash today in Harpswell, emergency officials said.
The three people were being treated at the scene, a county dispatcher said.

HARPSWELL -- A small plane with three occupants crashed today in a field off Route 123 in Harpswell, according to a Cumberland County dispatcher.
Rescue crews are on the scene helping the occupants, the dispatcher said. There was no information immediately available about their possible injuries or details about the crash.
8 p.m.
HARPSWELL-- The crash of 2002 Cessna 172 Sky Hawk airplane in Harpswell at 1:30 p.m. today occurred as the pilot attempted to land in heavy winds, emergency officials said.
Both the pilot, Ari Meisel of New York, and two passengers, received only minor injuries after their plane crashed into some trees near 6 Birchmere Lane.
The flight originated in East Hampton Airport in New York.
The Cumberand County Sheriff's Office said the crash occurred after Meisel circled the landing string strip and tried to land the plane in heavy winds but could not complete the landing. The pilot could not elevate the plane which crashed into trees between three houses.
The plane was heavily damaged. The cause of crash is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board and the sheriff's office.
