Rail trail volunteers needed starting this week

Friends of the Kennebec River Rail Trail are looking for volunteers to help with the fall clean up of the trail.

Brush, weeds and litter need to be cleared, the organization said in a release.

Clean up days will be held on:

• 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Meet in the Hallowell municipal parking lot;

• 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 16. Meet in the parking lot north of Foggy Bottom Marina in Farmingdale;

• 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 21. Meet on Greenville Street in Hallowell;

• 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 22. Meet in the parking lot at the Hannaford grocery store in Gardiner.

Volunteers are asked to bring their own hand clippers, rakes, weed whackers, gloves and other equipment.
