Rep. Sharon Treat announced she is a candidate for re-election to the Maine House of Representatives for District 79 (Farmingdale, Hallowell and West Gardiner).
"These are challenging times that demand common sense, experience, and a willingness to listen and work hard to find solutions," said Treat who lives in Hallowell. "I bring just these qualities to the Legislature."
During the past legislative session, Treat served on the Insurance and Financial Affairs Committee. As a member of the Maine Citizen Trade Policy Commission Treat said she has worked to insure that national trade policies are fair and respect our Maine's laws.
If elected for another term, Treat said her priorities will include insuring that consumers and businesses have access to affordable, safe and environmentally sound heat and electricity; improving oversight of health insurance costs; and investing in traditional Maine businesses such as farming and boat building while positioning the state for new industries such as renewable energy.
She is a Princeton graduate and has a law degree from Georgetown Law Center.
