GARDINER -- Energetic supervisors and work sites are needed on October 9 for "Day of Caring.
Gardiner Area High School students spend hours volunteering for nonprofit groups once a year in Gardiner, West Gardiner, South Gardiner, Pittston and Randolph.
The program is coordinated by Gardiner Area High School and the United Way.
Nonprofits, churches and the city of Gardiner are providing some sites for the high-school students to paint, shovel, plant, clean, pick up trash, weed and more -- but for a completely successful Day of Caring, more sites are needed.
Do you live alone and need your home insulated and winterized? Need help stacking your wood for the winter? Have an organization or business that needs a little extra help with painting or cleaning?
You provide the job, and Gardiner students are ready to help.
Area businesses will provide tools and materials and each group of students will have a supervisor. Adults also are needed at the site to supervise.
Gardiner Day of Caring must have more sites in order to move forward this year. Call Jackie Paré, assistant high school principal, at 582-3150 with ideas for service sites.
