A Phippsburg selectman had to be Tasered Saturday night after he refused to stop fighting during an incident that took place at a downtown bar, Bath police said.
Lt. Stan Cielinski identified the selectman as Lawrence R. Pye, 26, of Phippsburg.
Cielinski said Pye had been asked to leave the Riverside Sports Pub after becoming involved in a fight inside the bar. Pye allegedly continued to fight with bouncers outside the Washington Street establishment.
Cielinski said police were forced to use a Taser to stun Pye's lower leg. He was handcuffed and later charged with disorderly conduct, a Class E misdemeanor.
Pye was released on personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on Oct. 7.
Pye and Phippsburg officials could not be reached for comment.
