Westbrook cops arrest 11 on warrants

WESTBROOK -- Eleven people were arrested here yesterday, after the police department launched a detail to find people wanted on warrants and get them back into the court system.

The detail is being funded through the U.S. Marshal's office, which gave the city of Westbrook a $5,500 grant to hit the streets and seek out the people who are outstanding on 300 or so warrants.

Two teams of six officers went door to door yesterday, rounding up those they could find wanted on a warrant.

Those details continue today as the city, which partners with the Southern Maine Violent Crimes Task Force, works to find as many violators as possible.
