Burnham roads off-limits to big trucks

By Scott Monroe Morning Sentinel reporter September 09, 2008 12:28 PM

BURNHAM -- Town officials said today that two town roads are off-limits to heavy trucks as state officials prepare to close down a section of Route 100/11 to replace the Neal Bridge in Pittsfield.

Both Mount Road and North Horseback Road are closed to vehicles weighing 5 tons or more, town officials noted. Signs will be posted this week alerting motorists of the restrictions. Several town roads in Pittsfield have the same weight restrictions.

State officials have set Sept. 15 as the start date for replacing the Neal Bridge. Construction should last 42 days, finishing up on Oct. 26.

The official detour route is Troy Road to Route 220 to Route 69.
