NEW GLOUCESTER -- Firefighters were able to protect a home on 27 Bryant Road from a fire that broke out in a two-bay garage, just 30 feet away, on Tuesday afternoon.
Fire Chief Gary Sacco said the garage was engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the home, though heat from the fire melted siding.
The state Fire Marshall's Office was called in to investigate the cause of the fire, but Sacco said it does not appear to be suspicious.
There was no one in the home when the fire broke out, and Sacco said Tuesday he did not know who owns it.
