Somerset jail sale discussion delayed

By Doug Harlow Morning Sentinel Staff Writer September 09, 2008 06:20 PM

SKOWHEGAN - Presentations on the purchase and sale of the old Somerset County Jail scheduled for the county commissioners meeting today have been postponed.

Commission Chairman Philip Roy said Skowhegan entrepreneur Amber Lambke, who wants to buy the jail, and Amy McLellan, a real estate agent from Dawson Commercial, who wants to sell the old place, will reschedule their presentations.

A new date has not be set.

"After a discussion with the (real estate broker) for the jail this morning, a decision was made to postpone discussion of the jail at this Wednesday's 4 p.m. commissioner's meeting in the interest of allowing time for she and I to prepare a formal proposal/offer for the commissioner's review, which will aid cooperative negotiations," Lambke said in an e-mail to media outlets.

Roy said Lambke put off the meeting to meet with her lawyer to draw up a formal proposal to present to the county commissioners at a later date.
