At $3.49 a gallon, three Newport gasoline stations boasted Maine's lowest prices at the pump Thursday morning, according to the Web site mainegasprices.com.

The stations: Irving, at 18 Moosehead Trail and Banhs Road; Mobil at 3 Moosehead Trail near Interstate 95; and Valero at 81 Elm St. and Maine Street (Route 2).

The average price today in Maine is $3.63, the Web site says, and a year ago it was $2.80.
