The University of Southern Maine will name its computer-aided design laboratory after an international firm that recently made a large donation to the school's engineering program, school officials announced today.
Stantec, which has offices in Portland and Scarborough, gave $100,000 to USM's School of Applied Science, Engineering, and Technology to help develop the lab. Located on the Gorham campus, it will be called the Stantec Computer-Aided Design Laboratory.
Opened in 2004, the lab used to teach design and prototyping skills with the latest equipment and techniques.
A dedication ceremony will be held at noon on Monday and will include tours of the lab.
