Jurors paid a visit to the crime scene as the trial of a Maine man accused of sexually assaulting and strangling a pregnant Lewiston woman got under way Monday.

Richard Dwyer of Canton is charged in the death of 38-year-old Donna Paradis, a co-worker at Affiliated Computer Services in Lewiston. The Lewiston woman's nude body was found buried in a shallow grave last November, about a month after she disappeared.

Investigators found a number of items including a shovel and a pick ax near the grave. Police traced those items to a Wal-Mart and a Lowe's, and Dwyer was seen purchasing those items store surveillance tapes.

The trial is being held in Androscoggin County Superior Court, where opening arguments began Monday after a bus took jurors to the crime scene behind a Lewiston shopping center.
