WINSLOW -- Nokomis lost the battle of the statistics but won the war on the scoreboard by scoring three second-half goals to defeat Winslow, 3-1, in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B field hockey action Tuesday afternoon.
Winslow (2-1) had advantages of 14-6 in shots and 10-1 in penalty corners. But Sabrina Vaillancourt and Jordin McGinnis each had a goal and an assist for the Warriors, and Leigh Lander added an insurance goal with 8:50 left in the game. Nokomis remains unbeaten at 4-0-1.
Sara Pullen scored the lone goal for Winslow.
