SKOWHEGAN --A Pittsfield couple arrested and charged with a home invasion robbery in Pittsfield in late August were indicted by a Somerset County Grand Jury last week.

Robert E. Burt, 35, 8 Davis St., Pittsfield, and Elizabeth Tansino, 41, aka Elizabeth Bernasconi, aka Elizabeth Burt, 121 Davis St., Pittsfield, were each indicted on a charge of robbery, Aug. 23 in Pittsfield.

According to police at the time, the couple were let into a home at Deer Hill apartments off North Main Street, allegedly brandishing a knife and demanding money. Police said the couple "roughed up" the female victim and left with a small amount of money.

The Grand Jury deliberated for two days before returning indictments for 17 people charged with a variety of crimes including sexual abuse, burglary and drug trafficking , according to Evert N. Fowle, district attorney for Somerset and Kennebec counties.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but is a determination that enough evidence is present to proceed with trial.

Anthony C. Merrow Sr., 47, 298 Athens Road, Hartland, unlawful possession of schedule drugs, June 10 in Hartland; marijuana cultivation, June 10 in Hartland; theft, between Aug. 22, 2006 and Sept. 1, 2006, Norridgewock.

Lance F. Silvia, 28, 38 Bennett Ave., Skowhegan, aggravated trafficking in schedule drugs, May 1, Skowhegan.

Joshua A. Lieberman, 19, 267 Stream Road, Moscow, robbery, July 23 in Madison.

Caleb A. Bois, 19, 159 Covell Road, Fairfield, burglary and theft, between May 1 and May 3, Fairfield.
