AUGUSTA -- Gov. John Baldacci will host an energy savings program that is open to the public at 6:30 p.m. on October 1, according to his office.
The governor and energy experts will be at the Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield, which will be linked up live to the other six community colleges across the state.
The seminar is designed for homeowners and businesses who want to learn more about a number of low-cost, do-it-yourself projects that they can accomplish to help save energy - and money - this winter season.
Tips include basic home improvement repairs to stop cold air from leaking into buildings, such as filling holes around foundations and attics; sealing gaps in windows and doors; and finding trouble areas to add insulation to.
The one-hour program will be available after Oct. 1 on the State's energy assistance Web site, and instructional DVDs will be included in the Keep ME Warm kits that will be available mid-October.
