The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a flood watch that will remain in effect through Sunday evening.
Continued rain is likely today with a high of 66 degrees in the Augusta area. Rain will be heavy tonight with another three to six inches of rain expected, according to the weather service.
The rain has the potential to cause flooding of small rivers and streams, and may cause flooding in poor drainage areas. Larger rivers, such as the Kennebec, may rise significantly.
The next rain-free day could be Monday, with a slight chance of showers predicted. Tuesday looks nice -- sunny and 64 degrees.
