PORTLAND -- Goodwill Industries of Northern New England is merging with an agency that serves the unemployed and underemployed, officials announced today.
The Training Resource Center will become part of Goodwill. All of its 30 employees will be transferred to Goodwill.
Founded in the mid-1980s, the Training Resource Center manages workforce programs in Cumberland County, runs AmeriCorps programs in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York and co-manages a housing facility for homeless veterans in Biddeford.
The agency, which is headquartered in Portland, has worked with Goodwill to provide job training and placement for older workers.
Goodwill runs human service programs, including services for people with developmental disabilities, brain injuries or hearing impairment.
