FARMINGTON - The University of Maine at Farmington recently received certification as one of only two ACT professional licensing test centers in Maine. This service is offered at the UMF Franklin Academic Success Center at 252 Main Street in Farmington as of Oct. 1.
With this certification, UMF becomes part of the ACT Center network, an independent organization that provides proctored, professional licensing and certification testing services and workplace skills assessments to members of the public.
In addition to the site at UMF, the only other ACT test center in Maine is located at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor.
Among the new services available at the UMF site will be many professional licensing tests, including those needed by: social workers; surgical assistants; journeyman and master plumbers; health care office administrators; and ophthalmology, dentistry and food and nutrition professionals.
