Christine Pelosi, daughter of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, will appear at an event in Yarmouth tonight to encourage more women to run for office, according to a group called Emerge Maine.

The group, a nonprofit dedicated to training and recruiting women to run for office, is hosting an event that will recognize those who have completed the program and are running for office.

Ten program alumnae are running for the Maine House, and two are running for the Maine Senate, according to the group.

Pelosi is scheduled to talk about some of her mother's experiences, as well as her own as an attorney, activist and author of a book called "Campaign Bootcamp."
