Average heating oil prices in Maine has fallen nearly 20 percent in the past two weeks and have slipped below $3 a gallon in southern Maine, according to the latest survey from the state's energy office.

The current statewide price is $3.62 a gallon, down 12 cents since last week.
The highest price is $3.85, in central Maine; the lowest is $2.96 in the southwest.

Kerosene is down seven cents, to $4.33 a gallon.

The global economic slowdown and falling demand is continuing to put downward pressure on crude oil prices, according to the energy office.
