$8,000 in tools stolen

Newport police are also investigating a burglary in which about $8,000 worth of tools were stolen from a construction site.

The burglary was reported at 9 a.m. Monday at 69 Roussin Road, where Boulanger Builders of Palmyra was repairing a house.

A construction trailer had been forcibly broken into during the night and equipment was missing around the building, such as saws, air-guns and nailers. The burglary likely occurred sometime after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.
