Nonprofits affected by flooding this summer are eligible to apply for federal loans to help repair the damage, U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins announced today.

Groups in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Oxford, Sagadahoc, and York counties can apply for the Small Business Administration loans.

Organizations eligible for SBA assistance include food kitchens, homeless shelters, libraries, and schools.

The loans were authorized as a result of the Presidential public disaster declaration made following the flooding that occurred from July 24 to August 14.
