Skowhegan field hockey stops Gardiner, 2-0

SKOWHEGAN -- Skowhegan scored a goal in the final minutes of each half to post a 2-0 victory over Gardiner in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A field hockey action Monday afternoon.

Erin Sevey scored with 2:09 left in the first half when she deflected in a nice pass from Rebecca McCarty. Nicole Sevey scored with 40 seconds left in the game when she knocked in a rebound after Erin Sevey's shot hit the post.

Skowhegan dominated the statistics, with 17 shots and 15 penalty corners. Gardiner had five of each.

Skowhegan is now 12-0 and is at Messalonskee on Tuesday. Gardiner is 10-2 and hosts Cony on Tuesday.
