Supporters of a proposal to bring a casino to western Maine say the casino and resort would be sited in Oxford if voters allow it to move forward on Election Day.

The Olympia Group of Las Vegas said today it is looking at several pieces of property along the Route 26 corridor in the Oxford County town.

The sites are all around 40 acres big, and the company hopes to announce an exact location in the coming week, said spokeswoman Pat LaMarche.

Oxford selectmen last week passed a resolution to support the casino that Olympia Group wants to build.

OXFORD -- The group that wants voters to approve a resort casino in Oxford County has scheduled a news conference this afternoon to announce the proposed location for the gaming facility.

The Olympia Group is scheduled to announce its proposed location at 2:30 p.m. at the Oxford Public Safety Building on Route 26, Oxford.

Olympia is leading the effort to convince Maine voters on Nov. 4 to approve the construction of a full-service gaming casino. Until now, the supporters have not said where they propose to build the resort.
