A well-known political surrogate will visit Maine this weekend, the Maine Republican Party said today.
Todd Palin, husband of Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOP's vice presidential nominee, will visit Palmyra for a barbecue and social event on Saturday, then do the same with people up in Presque Isle on Sunday.
The visit is part of John McCain's renewed focus on Maine in hopes of garnering at least one of the state's four electoral votes.
The Palins are seen as playing well in Maine's more-rural 2nd Congressional District. Todd Palin races snowmobiles, and the McCain-Palin ticket has received the endorsement of the Maine Snowmobile Association, which has roughly 30,000 members.
