FARMINGDALE -- An Augusta woman was flown to a Lewiston hospital Friday following a two-vehicle crash on Maine Avenue.
Kelley Angers, 21, was taken by a LifeFlight of Maine helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center with internal injuries, said Deputy Mike Pion of the Kennebec County Sheriff's Department.
Two Augusta men traveling in the same car as Angers, including the driver, 19-year-old Robert Buckmore Jr., and passenger Michael Jackson, 19, were taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with non-life threatening injuries, Pion said.
The driver of the second vehicle, William St. Pierre, 54, of Chelsea, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. when St. Pierre made a left turn off First Street to head south toward Gardiner on Maine Avenue and turned into the path of the north-bound Buckmore.
"He stated he didn't see Buckmore," Pion said. "It was almost a head-on collision."
The accident remains under investigation, but, "Speed was a factor," Pion said.
"There are no charges at this point," he added.
Maine Avenue was closed for about 20 minutes as crews from the Farmingdale Fire Department and Gardiner rescue worked the scene.
Pion estimated damage to St. Pierre's GMC pickup truck at $4,000. Buckmore's two-door Accura was likely totaled, Pion said.
